Keller's Perfectly Crafted King Cake. |
There is nothing quite like a warm Keller's king cake. Make certain to pre-order -- or, take your chances with the throngs of folks who hang out just hoping to get their mitts on an unassigned cake. There's a lot to like here, but we especially appreciate Keller's boldness in mixing the cream cheese and the fruit filling together (see image below).
Features: This perennial favorite is a coffee-cake style pastry made with soft layers of moist Danish pastry dough packed with your choice of fillings and iced with a standard sugar frosting. Virtually every bite will include the sweet filling of your choice. They're not inexpensive, but Keller's is our King Cake of choice and we give it twelve out of twelve babies.
Notice how the filling is layered into every bite of this King Cake. |
- Small (feeds 8-12) costs $13-20
- Medium (feeds 15-25) costs $26-37

Ordering: Tuesdays are their big days, but leading up to Mardi
Gras you'll want to call ahead and place your order at least a few days
in advance, though we've found it useful to call a week or so in
advance. You can take your chances and show up hoping to get one of the
King Cakes available to walk-ins, but you may be disappointed if one is
not available. You can call them to place the order at: (337)

Moved away and have not had one in 18 years but still remember this as the best king cake anywhere!
ReplyDeleteThey deliver :-)
DeleteTried this one in two different flavors and found them tasty, but doughy, almost as if the dough was still raw. In my opinion, it needed to be cooked longer.
ReplyDeleteThat is what I love about them!
DeleteBy far, my favorite king cake on the planet. I know New Orleanians will not call it traditional to have different fillings, but they are incredible. I like the blue berry cream cheese filling.
ReplyDeleteI love Keller's, but $151 to ship two king cakes is crazy!!!!
ReplyDeleteOne of my absolute favorites next to the traditional Galette des Rois style with almond cream. The apple cream cheese from Kellers is a must though.
ReplyDeleteKeller's makes the best King Cakes!! Amaretto Walnut Cream Cheese is my absolute favorite.
ReplyDeleteI do agree that these are the best on the planet. Amaretto Walnut Cream is our number one fav. Puts all others to shame.
ReplyDeleteAmaretto Walnut Cream Cheese cakes and the sweet dough pies! Driving down, loading up, and heading back to Tennessee with these goodies!
ReplyDeleteBEST King Cakes EVER!!!! With the hour + drive, we still get a couple each time making the trip several times a Carnival season.... Even with the WORST customer service EVER!!!
ReplyDeleteYou're right about the customer service!
DeleteTry the Youngsville location....the customer service there is amazing!
DeleteAlways get the Amaretto walnut cream cheese. It can't be beat!
ReplyDeleteAmaretto walnut cream cheese is my favorite! It is costly to ship, but you just can't get one anywhere near that good anywhere else!!
ReplyDeleteI look forward to these king cakes every mardi gras season! Absolutely amazing!
ReplyDeleteI have tried every king cake known to man, and Kellers is BY FAR the best in my opinion! Turtle pecan, blueberry, and amaretto walnut are my faves.
ReplyDeleteI ordered one January 27th. Butter pecan. It was recomended to me. It tasted terrible. 4 other people did not like it. Dont know if it tastes like that.but i wont be back. Picked up the 29th.
ReplyDeleteButter Pecan is the worst one honestly. Top flavors would have to be Amaretto Walnut, Strawberry, Cream Cheese, Blueberry, or Cinnamon Butter. If you were to give Keller's another shot, try those.
DeleteI need to order and pay for small king cake
